With over a decade of achievements in her field, Dr. Ghoshal is a Neurologist and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine since 2003. An esteemed healthcare professional, Dr. Ghoshal has been in practice for 13 years, specializing in Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson’s disease, geriatric neurology, memory loss, and other neurodegenerative disorders. Working as a Neurohospitalist, Dr. Ghoshal cares for patients with neurological conditions in a hospital setting.

Her medical journey began with an undergraduate degree in Genetics from Iowa State University. She then attained her Medical Degree from Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University as well as a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at Northwestern University. She went on to complete her Residency in Neurology at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. During the course of her Geriatric Neurology Fellowship at Washington University, Dr. Ghoshal received both the Poletsky and Kopolow Awards for exceptional dementia care and research.
Dr. Ghoshal began as a Fellow in 2007, and got her first job as an Instructor in 2009. In addition to her research, Dr. Ghoshal teaches pre-med and medical students as well as resident physicians at the university and has been recognized for her teaching efforts. She also cares for patients in both hospital and outpatient settings. She also serves on the Medical Alumni Board at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Board Certified in Neurology, Dr. Ghoshal maintains professional memberships with the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the Society for Neuroscience (SFN) and Sigma Xi. She was also appointed to the Residency Examination Advisory Panel for the AAN.
Noted for her strong focus on the mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders, she has been a presenter of her work at many meetings of well-established societies in the field, including the Society of Neuroscience (SFN), the International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease (ICAD, now AAIC), and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). She is also a published author of numerous materials on neurology related topics.
Throughout her successful career, Dr. Ghoshal’s work has been showcased by several associations and conferences such as the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease (ICAD), Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC), Society for Neuroscience (SFN) and the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) meetings.
When she is not treating patients or teaching, Dr. Ghoshal enjoys dinner with friends, the fine arts, theatre, museums, and the ballet. Dr. Ghoshal also contributes charitably to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Northwestern University Medical Alumni Board.
